UMAT Registration

Programme Change

Rem Koolhaas’s re-scheduled lecture for Friday 13th July 15.30-16.30 will NOT now take place. The conference will open with the Kittler/Hasumi Plenary on Friday 13th July at 17.00, followed by the reception at 19.00, as originally announced. We apologise for any inconvenience that this will cause.
The reason Rem Koolhaas is unable to come is that his schedule changed at the last minute as he was summoned to Dubai to discuss on 13th and 14th July ‘a unique project, a once in a lifetime opportunity’ - an unprecedented architectural venture both for Rem and his OMA (Office for Metropolitan Architecture) company.
If, as a result of the programme change, you wish to alter the nature of your registration, please first submit an cancellation form. This will clear any of the existing forms you submitted. Having done this, you can then reapply on the formfor the sessions you now wish to attend.
We would much appreciate your understanding in this matter and we do look forward to seeing you in Tokyo.

Registration Options

There are two main registration options. Applicants must specify one or the other:

  • Full conference attendance (\10,000 for general admissions or \4,000 for students)
  • Keynote lecture attendance only (\2,000 per session)

Full Conference Attendance

Those who register for full conference attendance will be eligible to attend all sessions of the entire conference, including keynote lectures, paper sessions and round-tables. All those delivering papers or participating in round-table sessions must also register for conference attendance. However, it is possible to attend the conference even if you are not delivering a paper or participating in a round-table. PLEASE NOTE: the conference Call for Papers is now closed as the programme is complete.

Keynote lecture attendance

Those interested only in attending one of the four plenary sessions should select “keynote lecture attendance”. If you select “keynote lecture attendance” you must specify which plenary session(s) you wish to attend. Your registration will only be valid for the session(s) you specify and a separate entrance fee is payable for each lecture you attend. (If, for example, you select to attend Plenary Session 1, you cannot also attend Plenary Session 4; you can, of course select to attend all four plenary sessions, if you so wish). Those who register only for “keynote lecture attendance” are not eligible to attend either the paper sessions or the round-tables.

Which registration option should I select?

Those interested in attending more than one of the plenary sessions plus some of the paper sessions or round-tables are recommended to select full conference attendance. This is particularly advantageous for students, for whom the price of conference attendance is equivalent to the cost of attending two plenary sessions. The paper sessions will feature presentations by more than 300 scholars from around the world.

Payment of conference entrance fees

Whichever registration option you have selected, all fees must be paid in Japanese currency (cash only) on entry to the conference venue. Those who have registered for full “conference attendance” must make their payment either at the entrance to Yasuda Hall (if arriving on July 13th) or at the reception desk on the second floor of the Engineering Faculty Bldg. 2 (if arriving on July 14th or later). Those who have registered for “keynote lecture attendance” must make their payment on entry to the Yasuda Hall before each session attended. (Those attending multiple sessions must pay separately for each individual session.)
